Waking to the bitter kiss of a snowy,
-10 degree morning in Shiga Kogen came as a welcome change after the recent weather
in Sydney. Wonderfully fluffy snow blanketed as far as the eye could
see, though attempting to see anything became somewhat of a frugal
effort at times as the constant flurry of snow silently assaulted our
eyes.
The conditions were somewhat
unforgiving though proved to be a brilliant experience as a
wonderful day and a memorable time skiing, and snowboarding
respectively, was had by all.
Toward the later stage of the afternoon
the snow eased and the clouds dissipated just long enough to catch a
glimpse of the stunning views of the valley and surrounding mountain
range.
Shiga Kogen has been an absolutely
beautiful part of the trip so far, and certainly a memorable part
along our travels. With more brilliant experiences to come, we can
only wait for the weeks ahead.
